Weight Loss Tablets

2a19dd2c122347621526682Because the world is so caught up with the idea that a thin or slim body is the ideal body build to have to make each and every one of us look ‘hot,’ instead of being happy with the way we are built and maintaining a healthy lifestyle free of alcohol, smoking habits and still others, we go for the easiest way to lose weight: weight loss tablets. Many of them are offered in the commercial markets (including the drugstores) in that many people now flock these places to avail themselves of these tablets.

The popular market of weight loss pills is rapidly attracting more people. These are especially popular with people who have tried other diet methods and failed. Most of the companies who promote weight loss pills advertise them as a fast way to lose weight.

Here are a couple of pointers for you to choose Weight Loss Tablets:

• Choose a natural product which hasn’t been altered. This is vitally important because it probably means you won’t suffer side effects either.

• Take the time to look at diet pill reviews and try to establish whether these sites are there to genuinely help you or just to make you part with your cash.

Advantages:

• They’re painless. Unlike exercising weight loss pills don’t cause as much pain as exercising. All you have to do is pop one in your mouth and you’re done, you don’t have to build up a sweat like in exercise.

• They don’t consume time. If you work 9-5 you will know that going to the gym or exercising on a regular period can be a problem. Some days you don’t have time to go to the gym and you end up storing the calories instead of burning them. With weight loss pills, they don’t take as much time as going to the gym do they? It takes about 5 seconds to have one.

• You can’t injure yourself. Going to the gym or doing any exercise can have a risk of an injury and that injury would put you out of exercise, which means you will start putting on weight while recovering. With weight loss pills injury risk is at a minimal, you can’t get hurt putting on in your mouth (unless you bite your tongue, but I’m sure that you could continue from that injury).

So far the weight loss pills look like they are the option right? Well don’t make up your mind yet, it’s time for the disadvantages.

Disadvantages:

• They stimulate water loss. This means for every pill you take you lose a certain amount of water. This is not advisable as you will start getting dehydrated and also with the water loss, you will lose potassium which will start making you feel weak.

• They help you lose your appetite. By not eating as much you risk having health problems and soon your muscles will start feeling weaker and you will have a higher blood pressure.

• You can become addicted. Having pill after pill can get you addicted. This can cause severe health problems including diarrhea and insomnia.

Weight Loss Surgery

Posted 29 May, 2009 in Weight loss, Weight Loss | No comments

weight-loss-surgeryWeight Loss Surgery (WLS) is often viewed as a quick fix for morbid obesity. One day a person is fat, the next they are not. While it may appear to onlookers that a gastric bypass patient is losing the weight without personal struggle or effort, this really isn’t true. WLS patients must follow four rules for success and they experience four phases of growth following surgery. The four rules for successful weight loss and long-term weight maintenance are: Eat protein first; No snacking, Drink lots of water and Exercise daily.

There are basically two kinds of weight loss surgeries available: restrictive and bypass. Each of these types of surgeries has a few different variations but they work based on the same principles.

Here are the basics:

Restrictive: This type of weight loss surgery involves restricting the amount of food that your body digests and also slowing down the digestive process, to limit the amount of nutrients (and calories) your body absorbs. The two types are: Vertical Banded Gastroplasty (VBG,) and Laparoscopic Gastric Banding or Lap Band Surgery.

Bypass: This type of surgery is accomplished by bypassing some part of the digestive system to limit the amount of nutrients and calories absorbed. In Roux en Y Gastric Bypass Surgery, the most popular bypass weight loss surgery in the U.S., a pouch is formed in the top of the stomach with staples, bypassing the lower part of the stomach and the upper small intestine and connecting it to the lower small intestine. The other type of bypass weight loss surgery is more commonly practiced in Europe and it is called Biliopancreatic Diversion (BPD), in which a large part of the stomach is removed and all but a small part of the small intestine is removed. Bile and pancreatic juices are diverted to the intestine to digest the food just prior to its entering the colon, which does not digest.

Benefits:

* Fast Weight Loss: Obviously this is the biggest benefit of weight loss surgery. Immediately following the surgery most people begin to lose weight quickly. This rapid weight loss usually continues for at least a year and a half, leading to a very significant reduction in body weight. It’s important to note however that many people begin to regain weight within 2 years, especially if they have not made any healthy lifestyle/diet changes!

* Improvement of Obesity-Related Health Conditions: For many people, the improvement in their overall health, following weight loss surgery, is just as important as the weight loss itself. And for good reason: people who have suffered from debilitating obesity-related conditions (such as diabetes) for years often experience tremendous improvements within a short period of time.

Risk and Side-Effects:

* Death: A small percentage of weight loss surgery patients die during the operation or from complications in the days and weeks following the surgery.

* Post-surgery complications: Some patients must have follow-up procedures to correct complications, which can include infections and hernias.

* Nutritional deficiencies: Some types of weight loss surgeries reduce the body’s ability to absorb important vitamins and minerals. Many patients must take diet supplements on a daily basis or risk developing anemia, osteoporosis, metabolic bone disease, etc.

* Gallstones: More than a third of gastric surgery patients develop gallstones due to the rapid weight loss that occurs in the months following a weight reduction procedure.

* Side-effects: Some of the most common side-effects experienced by weight loss surgery patients include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, excessive sweating, increased gas, and dizziness.

Weight Loss Patch

Posted 29 May, 2009 in Weight loss, Weight Loss | No comments

patch01There is always a new invention and modern ways that are constantly implemented to assist with effectively losing weight. During my research, I found one such called The Weight Loss Patch. The Patch is claimed to be revolutionary, advanced appetite suppressant, metabolism booster, and energy enhancer…all in one. The Patch helps to prevent going on starvation diets because of its natural and easy use. It is safe and requires no grueling and dangerous exercises. It is said to work all day and all night long by placing it on any area of the body.

There are so many weight loss products bombarding us everyday from television commercials to online ads. These advertisements sometimes come in the form of diet pills, green teas, super foods or detox diets. The newest craze flooding the market now is the weight loss patch.

Shedding off those unwanted pounds is easy when you use the best weight loss patch available in the market today. Some examples of the best weight loss patch you can buy are Hoodia, Dietrine and Shape Patch. Aside from being safer than diet pills, weight loss patches are great for those who want to lose weight but still want to maintain a sedentary lifestyle.

How it works:

A weight loss patch claims to help in weight loss by either suppressing your appetite or helping you burn excess fat. A weight loss patch works through the skin, supposedly releasing appetite suppressants and other chemicals into your body. It is said to be more effective than a diet pill because it goes directly to your body without passing through the stomach, which removes the important nutrients found in the weight loss patch.

Ingredients:

Many weight loss patches usually contain these four main ingredients:

1. Guarana: a stimulant that aids in mild fat burning or thermogenic properties.

2. Chromium: helps regulate insulin function and balance blood sugar levels.

3. Garcinia cambogia or hydroxycitric acid: said to prevent the conversion of carbohydrates into fat by inhibiting the action of the enzyme citrate lyase.

4. Fucus vesiculosus or brown seaweed: supposed to help burn fat. It contains a significant amount of iodine, which serves to aid the thyroid gland.

Side effects:

Just like any other weight loss drug, the celebrity weight loss patch has side effects including skin irritation due to the adhesive. The FDA is warning us about excessive usage of the patch because it can lead to hyperthyroidism caused by an overdose in iodine. In fact, these patches are being seized from promoters and manufacturers because of their dangerous side effects.

Restrictions:

The following people should not use or even attempt to use the weight loss patch:

1. Those with thyroid problems or complications.

2. Diabetics

3. Those with high blood pressure

4. Those with heart disease

5. Pregnant women.

Is it effective?

Unfortunately, although these ingredients can aid in weight loss, a weight loss patch only contains a small amount of these ingredients, thereby resulting in minimal weight loss. Furthermore, some of the ingredients, like brown seaweed, remain untested and the long term effects still unknown.

Day Thirteen …

Posted 29 May, 2009 in Weight loss, Weight Loss | No comments

Today is my last day staying with my friend Jackie at her wonderful home on the edge of the Lincolnshire wolds.  We’ve been blessed with absolutely beautiful weather.

Oh Joy!  Another 1 lb down on the scales this morning.  We are being really exact about our measurements for food and ensuring that we stick to the protocol exactly.  I suppose that due to us using a homeopathic hcg, it does make that even more important somehow.  Also because we are giving our bodies such a thorough detox, it will be very sensitive to even minor deviations.

I can say that I continue to feel better in myself, in terms of headspace; very positive, relaxed and happy.  It feels so good to be shedding things that ‘bogged’ me down on an emotional and in turn physical level.

I do think that there is something quite exceptional about the Cura Romana protocol.  It truly is changing people’s lives and providing them with the inner power to make positive change and take control of their lives.  It’s very hard to explain, without sounding slightly ‘mad’.  You’ll just need to experience it for yourself :-)

Weigh in and thoughts, Day 81 of 90 Day Action Plan

Postal Scale6Got on the scale this morning. I lost the pound back off that I gained last week. I am at 275lbs now, down from 299 lbs. In actuality I was over 300 lbs in December of 2008. I know I was because I had started to change my eating patterns and working out before I got on the scale for my initial weight.

I frankly, did not want to face that scale going over 300 lbs. So officially, I have lost 24 lbs with 126 lbs to go.

I can really feel the difference in my face. My upper arms have lost fat, whoo hoo. I am looking forward to having the skin draw up to where it needs to be. Right now I have a pair of fat wings on my arms.

There are holes/indentions on my thighs now too. They were solid. I am losing fat out of my thighs, whoo hooo! I am on my way.

On May 22nd, I got some really great news. I received the results from the MRI on my left leg/knee. Happily there were no torn ligaments, tendons or cartilage. My injury was/is a very badly sprained knee joint; and strained muscles up the back of my left calf and thigh. What to do now? Work it baby. Make it bend and just keep at it, even if it feels like it’s the very last thing you’d like to do. Ooooraaaahhhhh… just move it.

Back to the weight loss, or rather fat loss topic. My body seems to drop pounds for several weeks then plateau, for several weeks; then drop again. I am due for another drop.

I don’t think it is just my body. I think I get a bit weirded out over the fat loss/inch loss, even though I definitely want it, and get a bit bingy. It’s amazing just how much of the weight loss issue is actually psychological rather than physical.

This transformation process is truly a total transformation process. physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Leave any one out, or try to block the growth/transformation and the entire process falls apart.

It would seem that it is not so much a body transformation, but a life transformation.

Life is a journey, enjoy the trip

Quick Update

Posted 29 May, 2009 in Weight loss, Weight Loss | No comments

Today I was diagnosed with SEVERE Hypothyroidism. Which is why I feel like utter crap, why I’m always run-down, exhausted (no matter how much sleep I get), horribly depressed, and FAT.

So I’m officially starting my new medication tonight and the doc said once we get me into the “normal” range I will feel great and start shedding weight like crazy (if I keep up with my new good eating habits).

“Normal” could be a couple month away though…. healthy range is between 0.5-5.5 — mine is at 38.  Yeah…. which is why within 20 hours of my blood being drawn the doc’s office called me in a panic to come in and see him.  When he sat down with me and looked at my results he got this “OH MY GOD” look on his face and said “OOOOooooooooooo!”  You KNOW that’s bad. So normally they start people off at 25mg/day and build up from there if needed. Not me. Oh no…..

75mg/day. Yeah baby! :) Go big or go home, right?

I’m hoping I will start to see results (even in just my energy level) within the next couple of weeks. Wish me luck!

Slowly Shifting

Posted 29 May, 2009 in Weight loss, Weight Loss | No comments

As I learn a little more about lifting, I find myself shifting away from the circuit training that I started with.  I really would like to move to free weights exclusively, but I just don’t know enough about it yet.  Hopefully when I meet with my trainer tomorrow, I’ll learn some more….at least enough to get me into doing a full body workout 3 times a week.

Great night at the gym tonight.  I felt so good the whole time.  I bumped my weights up again and I could actually do it.  It just feels so good to know that I’m actually making progress.  I threw in a couple of extra exercises tonight too.  I had planned on doing a little cardio at the end, but it was getting late, so I just stopped with that workout.  I’m planning on going and doing a little cardio tomorrow morning after my session.  I probably shouldn’t have lifted tonight, but it was really the only time I could fit it in.

Scales tonight said 252.  I’m not making that official cause my weigh in is Monday, but it’s good to see the scales go down a bit.

I went to a health food store today and thought I would give some stuff a try.  OMG….total waste of 30 bucks.  I’m going to try the whole grain pancake mix tomorrow, so hopefully that won’t be too bad.  The english muffins I got that are whole grain aren’t too bad, but the lady at the store said that she puts this natural peanut butter on hers and it’s really good.  Wow…was it ever terrible.  I bought all natural raw almond butter and it was just horrible.  I also got these protein bars that are chocolate flavored.  Thought I could throw a little of that in.  Nah.  Don’t even think so.  She was trying to get me to buy this liquid protein thing that you just drink alone.  You’re supposed to drink an ounce a day.  It was 50 bucks for the bottle though and I wasn’t about to shell money out on something that I probably wouldn’t do.  I’d rather not do too many supplements if I can help it.  The whey protein powder I bought makes me horribly nauseated.  I made some protein pancakes this morning and they were really good, but I have been nauseated all day.  I was when I made the shake the other time too.  I’ve decided that I’ll just stay away from it all together.

I’ve decided too that I’m going to make one positive change per month.  I had originally thought I would do it weekly, but I would rather do it for a month so that it will become more of a habit.  So, I’ll start June 1.  This month will be to get at least 4 servings of veggies per day.  That will be the biggest one for me.  I’m just not a fan of vegetables.  I know that’s horrible, but I hate the consistency.  I’m going to try to find some recipes and try to incorporate them into some things I like.  That broccoli/cauliflower salad is really good.  I’ll make me up a big bowl of that and try to do it that way.

I’m trying to find other goals to set too.  I think I do better when I’m working toward something and it helps to have more short term goals since I have so much to lose.  I thought about having a resting heart rate goal among others.  Things related to total fitness…not just weight loss.

Well, I’m off to log my workout.  Update in the morning about my training session.
